The Coffee
Madagascar is home to a variety of specialty coffees. This year, we will be sourcing arabica beans from three regions within Madagascar, each with it's own flavor profile. Upon shipping, we will provide you with details on the geography and tasting notes for a fully informed coffee experience.
The Roast
Our Madagascar Specialty Coffee beans are skillfully roasted to preserve the unique flavors from origin. This custom light-medium roast highlights the distinct flavor profiles of each region.
The Grind
You decide. Whole bean or ground coffee. Sorry, no capsules (yet).
The Story
The cooperatives and farmers have awesome stories. We'll communicate to you who grew your coffee and what motivates them.
One cooperative is exclusively female, with a focus on female economic empowerment. As an all-female cooperative, they report more alignment in internal decision-making and the use of cooperative funds. The cooperative bonds extend beyond coffee and provide social and economic support to members and their families.
Another coffee entrepreneur established one of the largest plantations in Madagascar to subsidize the rural health center. As a doctor from a rural community, he realized they needed significant financing to provide quality, basic care. He established a six-hectare plantation himself and an out-grower program with small farmers. He aggregates the small farmer's harvest, then sells it as a larger lot. The proceeds from the sale finance the health center.
