REFUND & RETURN POLICY
We want customers and campaign participants to be confident purchasing from Madagascar Coffee Company. At the same time, coffee is an agricultural product, and Seed to Cup rewards may involve scheduled fulfillment, limited lots, customized benefits, and future access that is purchased separately if qualifying coffee becomes available.
Standard Coffee and Merchandise
You may request a return of an eligible, unopened, unused, and resalable non-custom product within 14 days after delivery, unless a longer period is required by applicable law.
Because roasted coffee and certain other products are food products, we generally cannot accept returns of coffee once the package has been opened unless the product is defective, damaged, contaminated, or incorrect.
Customized, personalized, limited production, or made-to-order items may not be returnable except where required by law or where MCC made an error.
Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return results from an MCC error, defective product, or damage occurring before
delivery.
Original shipping and delivery charges are generally non-refundable unless required by law or the return results from an MCC error.
Damaged, Defective, Missing, or Incorrect Orders
If your order arrives damaged, defective, incomplete, or incorrect, please contact us within 7 days after delivery.
Where reasonably possible, include:
- your order number;
- a description of the problem; and photographs of the item, packaging, shipping label, or damage.
Depending on the circumstances, MCC may replace the product, issue a store credit, provide a partial refund, or issue a full refund.
We may ask you to retain damaged products or packaging while we investigate a carrier or insurance claim.
Seed to Cup Campaign Orders
Seed to Cup purchases may support activities that occur before or during reward fulfillment, including coffee sourcing, processing, planting, nursery development, model-farm activities, outgrower support, quality, traceability, packaging, and fulfillment.
Unless otherwise stated on a particular campaign offer, a participant may request cancellation of a Seed to Cup order within 14 days after purchase, provided MCC has not already commenced individualized or customized fulfillment relating to that order.
After that period, campaign purchases are generally non-refundable because funds may already have been committed to campaign activities, production, agricultural development, sourcing, or fulfillment. A decision not to exercise a separately priced future purchase opportunity or right does not create a refund entitlement for the original campaign reward.
Below-goal exception: If the campaign closes below $150,000 and MCC presents a revised plan, each participant may accept or decline that plan. A participant who does not affirmatively confirm will have their participation canceled. MCC will ensure that payment is not captured or will refund any amount already collected, as applicable. This exception controls over the general 14-day cancellation and non-refund provisions.
This limitation does not remove any cancellation, refund, or consumer protection right that cannot legally be waived.
Pre-Orders and Separately Purchased Future-Harvest Coffee
Any pre-order or separately purchased future-harvest coffee will have an expected fulfillment date or shipping window shown on the product page, order confirmation, purchase agreement, or subsequent customer communication. Reserved future purchase opportunities in the Seed to Cup campaign are not pre-orders and do not become coffee orders unless separately exercised and
confirmed.
Agriculture involves uncertainties. Harvest timing, production volume, processing schedules, quality, logistics, and export timing may change.
If MCC determines that it cannot ship an order within the promised timeframe, or within the legally applicable period when no timeframe was promised, we will communicate the delay and, where required by applicable law, provide the customer with the opportunity to:
1. accept the revised fulfillment date; or
2. cancel the affected unshipped portion of the order and receive the applicable refund.
Crop Failure or Material Supply Shortage
If an identified harvest, lot, parcel, or production source becomes unavailable because of crop failure, weather, pest or disease, quality failure, natural disaster, or another event outside MCC’s reasonable control, MCC may offer:
- equivalent or higher-value coffee from another MCC lot, farm, region, variety, or harvest;
- fulfillment during a subsequent harvest;
- another reward of comparable value; or
- a refund for the affected unfulfilled product where required by law or where no reasonable substitute can be provided.
MCC will not knowingly substitute a materially lower-value product without informing the customer.
Trade and Commercial Orders
Green-coffee purchases, wholesale transactions, reserved-purchase transactions, sample shipments, and other commercial transactions may be governed by separate quotations, contracts, invoices, purchase orders, Incoterms®, or other commercial terms.
Where separate written commercial terms exist, those terms control over this general Refund Policy to the extent of any conflict.
Refund Processing
Approved refunds will normally be returned to the original payment method.
After MCC processes a refund, banks and payment providers may require additional time to post the credit to your account.
MCC is not responsible for exchange-rate differences, international bank charges, or payment-provider fees that arise solely because of currency conversion or the customer’s financial institution, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
